Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources Commission meets Oct. 21-22 in Thermopolis

Members of the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources Commission will meet from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., October 22, in the Big Horn Federal, Basement Meeting Room, 643 Broadway in Thermopolis.

An executive session may be called if necessary.

The Commission will also hold a public meeting at 6 p.m., October 21 at the same location. The public meeting will provide an opportunity for citizens to address the Commission regarding issues related to Hot Springs State Park, or any other issues pertaining to the work of the Department. This meeting is part of State Parks and Cultural Resources Director Milward Simpson’s monthly meetings addressing issues at Hot Springs State Park.

In addition to receiving updates on department programs, the Commission will discuss the department’s 2015-16 Supplemental Budget Requests.

The Commission has advisory responsibility for the agency which involves the planning, acquisition, development and management of all state parks, the State Trails Program, state recreation areas, state historic sites and archaeology sites. The Commission also advises the Wyoming State Museum, Wyoming Arts Council, the official State Records Center and Archives, the Office of the State Archaeologist, historical research activities, the State Historic Preservation Office and the Cultural Trust Fund.

Members of the Commission are: President Dan Barks, Gillette; Gene Gade, Sundance; Wayne Deahl, Torrington; Dudley Gardner, Ph.D, Rock Springs; Vice President Chuck Engebretsen, Lost Springs; Aaron Bannon, Lander; Karen Haderlie, Thayne; Don Schmalz, Cody; and Michelle Sullivan, Sheridan.
