WILLIE LECLAIR RIVERTON WY/AMERICAN
INDIAN LECTURE/STORYTELLER
Willie offers Wyoming residents and visitors a better understanding of the American Indian people’s traditions, history and lifestyle. He conducts short courses in storytelling and performance in conversational American Indian Sign Language, traditional songs, hand drum, descriptions of powwow dancing, and the background of Indian activities. Helping communities teach and preserve American Indian culture by sharing experiences of living on the Wind River Reservation. Willie lectures on the history of Wyoming Indian groups, pre-reservation lifestyles, Indian government systems and how treaties were developed, signed, and changed over time. Willie has performed all over the United States. He has traveled to Rome, Italy for Journey of the Spirit Pilgrimage and both to Scotland and Ireland with the Three Worlds Meet, during his time of sharing information to groups that are wanting to learn more about the American Indian ways of life and traditions. He has worked with Buffalo Bill Boycott and Dr.Jo sharing history of the west for the past couple decades. Willie also shares his experience of “The Indian in the Cowboy and the Cowboy in the Indian” as he was raised on a ranch and competed in rodeos.
