René is a metalsmith and sculpture artist. She has worked with concrete and glass fusing for over 20 years. She merges unique materials and methods and has developed some unconventional techniques. She often merges organic materials with glass, concrete, metal and found objects.
René’s inspiration comes from traveling and living in Europe, exploring history and architecture, and Australia where plants and nature are almost unbelievable.
René’s sculptures and jewelry designs have been exhibited in juried fine art shows and exhibitions in Wyoming, Colorado, Texas and Australia.
In 2015, René and her science collaborators were awarded the Art Science Biodiversity Grant. This opportunity was the beginning Science Loves Art, an entity that merges art with science. www.ScienceLovesArt.org
In 2017, René was invited to participate in a 5 year National Science Foundation grant and is excited to work with Wyoming scientists to bring microbes to life through art.
In 2018, Science Loves Art, René's passion, became a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Most of her time involves making connections with sponsor collaborators and communities across Wyoming that are isolated or live in rural communities without access to art and science projects. She is passionate about creating ways to connect the community to art through experiences. Most art "Kits" that she creates are inspired by nature and science.
