Description:

I am inspired by being outside and that carries though to my work.
In my previous career as a wildlife biologist, I couldn’t bring the entire forest home with me, but I could bring little pieces that were intriguing. For as long as I can remember, I couldn’t go anywhere in Wyoming’s vast mountain ranges without having an eye out for unique, twisted logs.
These pieces of the forest shaped by time and the elements are the cornerstone of my work.

I think of myself as an artist because I don’t just do straight carpentry. I don’t build anything from a set of plans. Everything comes out of my own imagination. I look at the wood and I sketch my design. What I create is completely unique and designed for that specific project.

Everything I build has a challenge to it. I don’t want to work with boards that are perfectly straight and already have right angles. I like wood with character that is added by time, wind and sun.

My work is a way to leave something behind-- a way to leave a mark. It is also a way for my clients to be reminded of their favorite camping spot or hunting spot. Each piece has been created out of materials that they see when they are out in the mountains.
