Wyoming Arts Council

Description:

A kitschy bag of flesh, Dinah Polhemus (me) explores social subjects, literature, and American culture when creating paintings and drawings. After completing my BFA with a focus in Painting and Drawing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I am settling in Wyoming to expand my craft.

Lately, I have been focused on my paternal lineage that stems from the Appalachian South. Through the investigation of my own genealogy, I hope to engage with the history and fables that shaped and defined the nation we live in today. I use my own life experience as a compass to navigate the culture of rural and southern America to explore classism inside and outside of the deep South. The findings from this journey are used to focus my work and provide the groundwork for future projects.
