Wyoming Arts Council

Description:

Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, I didn’t arrive in Wyoming to stay until I was 30. Having run for public office three times (winning once, somehow), I worked a variety of jobs—including magazine editing and renewable energy education—before I traded in the trees and water of Wisconsin for the sage and high desert of Laramie in 2012.

I originally came to Laramie to pursue my Master’s in English and Environment & Natural Resources. After finishing that in 2014, and not wanting to leave Wyoming (yes, I’m simplifying for narrative effect), I earned my PhD in Marketing & Sustainable Business Practices. I now hold a faculty position in the College of Business at the University of Wyoming.

While living in Wyoming, I have made it my goal when traveling in the state that my journey takes all day long. Piecing together routes of county roads and back roads, I have always been careful never to take the same route twice (when possible). While my punctuality has declined precipitously, my happiness has increased dramatically.

Capturing the rural Wyoming landscape and the tensions between the wild and the cultivated is the driving force of my photographic art.

My work has been selected for multiple Governor’s Capital Art Exhibitions and shown in gallery spaces throughout Wyoming.
