David’s blacksmithing passion began in 1976, when he kindled his first forge fire in Colorado as he learned the art from Slim Spurling in exchange for working in the shop. In 1994, after operating his own forge in Maine, where he made hand-forged napkin rings for First Lady Rosalyn Carter, David moved to Buffalo and reopened his Arrowhead Forge. David shows the art of blacksmithing in demonstrations and workshops, and has a portable forge shop made up of historical equipment. David’s presentations fit within the school curriculums for art, history, and metal shop.
