Brigid is the winner of the 2010 PEN/Hemingway Award.
A Long, Long Time Ago and Essentially True has been hailed as “a dazzling
debut, generous of heart and deeply rewarding” by the PEN/Hemingway
judges. The novel is set in Poland and reimagines half a century of Polish
history through the legacy of one unforgettable love story. Pasulka is the
descendant of Polish immigrants, lived for a year in Krakow and is still a
frequent visitor.”
