August groundbreaking planned for new Washakie Museum & Cultural Center

The summer issue of “Mammoth News” from the Washakie Museum in Worland carried some big news.

The Washakie Museum & Cultural Center plans to break ground for its new facility in August. The building will house approximately 5,000 square feet of permanent exhibit space, 2,000 square feet of temporary and traveling exhibit space, and a banquet/meeting room with a kitchen.

CTA Architects and the Sargent Legacy LLC are working together to complete the building plans. The museum board and staff are planning the content for the exhibits with ECOS Exhibit Designers. They’re also been consulting with historians and museum experts such as Dr. George Frison, Dr. Phil Roberts, John Davis, Dr. Marcel Kornfeld and Mike Bies.

Funding for the museum comes from the Newell B. Sargent Foundation.
