The Ben Markley Trio will join the University of Wyoming Department of Music faculty and students from the string area for a performance Monday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts new recital hall.
The “Swinging With Strings” performance is part of the UW Department of Music’s Faculty Recital Series, which is free and open to the public.
UW faculty jazz pianist and award-winning composer Markley is an active performer in the Denver metropolitan area and along the Front Range. The Ben Markley Trio is composed of Chris Smith on drums, Matt Smiley on bass and Markley on piano. Markley is a member of the Wyoming Arts Council artist roster.
Group members are regular performers at Dazzle Jazz Club in Denver, a nationally renowned venue for up-and-coming and established jazz musicians. All music to be performed at the UW performance is written by Markley.
