The Laramie County Community College Choral Ensembles and the Capitol Chorale will perform Die Schopfung (The Creation) by Franz Joseph Haydn on Friday, April 3, 7:30 p.m., at the Cheyenne Civic Center, 510 E. 20th St. Tickets are $10; free for children under 12 and active military members.

The Creation has been Haydn’s most popular work since its first performance in Swarzenberg Palace in Vienna in 1798. The text was put together for Haydn by Gottfried van Swieten. With references to The Book of Genesis in The Bible, the oratorio beautifully tells the biblical account of the story of the creation of light, land and sea, plant life, heavenly spheres, animals, birds, fish, and man and woman.
The Wyoming Arts Council believes that experiencing the arts should be accessible for all, including people with mental and/or physical disabilities, older adults, military/veterans, people living in institutions and those who lack access to the arts due to geographic isolation, cultural difference and economic hardship.
