“A Bright, Shiny, New Holiday Concert” will be presented by the Casper College Music Department on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2:30 p.m. in the Music Building.
The concert will feature three Casper College groups: The Brass Ensemble and the Concert Band, both under the direction of Douglas Bull, and the Flute Ensemble under the direction of Delores Thornton.
According to Bull, brass instructor and band director, the CC Brass Ensemble will perform selections from Robert Elkjer’s “Winter Brass Collection” and Sam Nestico’s “Joy of Christmas.” The ensemble’s performance will take place at 2:30 on the concourse of the Music Building. “I daresay that no other band in the region is performing the music that we will be performing on Saturday,” said Bull. “The music by Robert Elkjer for brass ensemble is unique. He has written many works for the New York Brass Ensemble, and I think that the audience will find his music interesting and enjoyable,” Bull added.
At 3 p.m. the CC Flute Ensemble and the CC Concert Band will perform in the Wheeler Concert Hall also located in the Music Building. The flute ensemble will perform two selections: “Christmas Morning Suite” and “Greensleeves Fantasia.”
The Casper College Concert Band will round out the afternoon concert with “The Glory of Christmas,” “Silent Night,” “Winter Dances,” “Celebrate,” and “Joy In All Things.”
“A Bright, Shiny, New Holiday Concert is free and open to the public. The Music Building is located on the Casper College campus.
