"Jentel Presents" Dec. 2 in Sheridan

Press release from the Jentel Artist Residency Program:

Continue the spirit of the holiday season by sharing your time with the Jentel artists-in-residence. Jentel is proud to present this month’s residents in an event open to the public. “Jentel Presents” will take place Tuesday, Dec. 2, 5:30-7 p.m., at Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library Inner Circle, 335 W. Alger, Sheridan. This month’s presenters include a sculptor, a painter, a poet, a novelist and two sculptor/installation artists. “Jentel Presents” is a community outreach program that features slide presentations and readings by the visual artists and writers at the residency.

Presenters include:

• Stefan Chinov, Dayton, Ohio; Stefan, a sculptor, grew up in Bulgaria, in a constrained society, which provoked his interests in literature and philosophy. He has travelled in Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.
• Heather Foster, New York, N.Y.; a painter, Heather enjoys riding her bike over the Brooklyn Bridge. She also enjoys snowshoeing and hiking in remote areas of Northwestern Montana.
• Carolyn Salas, Brooklyn, N.Y.; A sculptor/installation artist, Carolyn is the youngest of six kids and has lived in a variety of interesting locations.
• Adam Smith, Arcata, Calif.; Adam, a sculptor/installation artist, based in New York but born in Northern California, sometimes works collaboratively with Carolyn Salas. He has lived in Rome and England.
• Katie Kingston, Trinidad, Colo.; a poet, Katie recently returned from Spain where she drafted poems on the roots of two conquistadors — Humaña and Bonilla — who led an expedition into Colorado in 1539.
• Sarah Van Arsdale, New York, N.Y.; a novelist, Sarah writes in the borderland between fiction and memoir, in the form of novels, stories, and a library card catalogue.

For anyone looking for a stimulating evening, come join the crowd at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library Inner Circle. There is no admission charge for ” Jentel Presents” and refreshments are available.

The Jentel Foundation offers dedicated individuals a supportive environment in which to further their creative development. While at Jentel, visual artists and writers have the opportunity to experience unfettered time to allow for thoughtful reflection and meditation on the creative process in a setting that preserves the agricultural and historical integrity of the land.

The Jentel Artist Residency Program accepts applications twice a year from visual artists in all media and writers in all genres for a one-month residency. A residency includes a comfortable accommodation; common living, dining and recreation areas; a private workspace and a stipend to help defray expenses during the program.
