Thinking about summer? We just received an e-copy of the brochure for the 40th annual Wyoming Writers, Inc. (WWInc), conference June 6-8 at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Sheridan. Gayle Irwin tells us that members will receive copies of the brochure in the mail in late March.

The conference features a great line-up of presenters: Wyoming novelist and screenwriter Mark Spragg, creative nonfiction guru Lee Gutkind, Writers’ Digest’s Chuck Sambuchino, Wyoming Poet Laureate Echo Roy Klaproth and literary agents April Eberhardt and Jessica Sinsheimer. The conference features presentations by the writers, one-on-one pitch sessions with the agents, two open-mic sessions, on-site bookstore, business meeting, good food and good company.

Check out the lineup of presenters and speakers and the conference schedule in brief.

Deadline for the annual writing contest is March 15. Get more info here.

The Gaydell Collier Memorial Scholarship (GCMS) will be awarded for the first time in 2014. The GCMS is open to any writer wishing to apply and will include a full conference fee, a one-year membership to WWInc and a $200 stipend. To apply for this scholarship, applicants are expected to follow a few simple guidelines. In a maximum of 250 words, answer this question, “How will attending the Wyoming Writers, Inc., conference propel you forward as a writer?” The author’s response must be typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, in Times New Roman font, size 12, on one side of one sheet of 8.5” X 11” white paper. Name, address, email address, and phone number should appear at the top of the page. Submissions should be mailed to Bearlodge Writers, P. O. Box 204, Sundance, WY 82729-0204, and postmarked no later than March 15.

The GCMS recipient and one alternate will be notified on or slightly before April 21.
