From a Casper College press release:

“Through the Looking Glass: The Portrait of the Artist” exhibition will be on display at the Goodstein Art Gallery through Feb. 12, 2015.

The exhibition of artwork is part of the University of Wyoming Art Museum’s Regional Touring Exhibition Service and features 12 works from a variety of artists, time periods.

“This show explores the tradition of self-portraits and portraits of artists in variety of mediums including drawings, prints and photography,” said Sarah Gadd, UW Art Museum registrar. “Involved in creative pursuits, artists become interesting candidates for portrait subjects and self-portraits allow for the artist to make a unique statement about themselves. With traditional commissioned portraits the expectation is a favorable likeness of the sitter, however an artist’s self portrait or a portrait of the artist reveals more than the sitter’s physical appearance removing the conventional constraints and allowing for more experimentation,” noted Gadd.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. The Goodstein Art Gallery is located in the Goodstein Visual Arts Center on the Casper College campus and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
