Palochak teaches Keum-Boo workshop Oct. 25


Wyoming Arts Council roster artist Katherine Palochak will conduct her “Keum-Boo Gold-On-Silver Workshop” on Saturday, Oct. 25, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the WOW Civic Center Room 271 in Laramie. Workshop participants can expect to finish either a pair of earrings or a necklace pendant during the day.

Keum-boo is the ancient Korean technique of fusing high karat gold to patterned silver. This class is great for those who have never made jewelry, or for bead artists and PMC artists who want to expand their techniques. Those who do PMC are encouraged to bring some of their projects they would like to add gold accents.

Cost: $50 materials supply fee (could be more or less depending on the metals market)
Bring: Small scissors; x-acto knife; latex gloves or thin nitrile gloves (to keep skin oil off metal); thin cotton or leather gloves; paper punches or patterned scissors.
Size Limit: 12 people
Lunch: We will place a joint order for delivered sandwiches (everyone chips in) or those who prefer, bring a sack lunch. There’s a refrigerator on-site.

Katherine Palochak is internationally renowned for her jewelry. She and her work have been published in trade journals and magazines around the world. She has written technical articles for leading jewelry publication, including Rock & Gem, Lapidary Journal and Step-by-Step
Jewelry Projects.
She is a popular workshop teacher, having taught at colleges, guilds, metal/fine craft academies and artist retreats in the West and the West Coast.
