Just received this from our colleagues in South Dakota:
The South Dakota Arts Council, a state agency within the Department of Tourism, is accepting applications for the position of director, through Nov. 13.
The South Dakota Arts Council is advised by an 11-member governor’s appointed board of directors. The director of the organization is responsible for managing the staff and day-to-day activities of the agency, working with the board of directors, overseeing the agency’s grant programs, and generally serving as an advocate and point of contact for the arts in the state.
The mission of the Arts Council is to provide grants and services to artists, arts institutions, schools and other nonprofit organizations throughout the state with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the state of South Dakota. For more information about the agency, its mission and its programs, visit www.artscouncil.sd.gov.
The position will become available with the retirement of current director, Michael Pangburn, who will end his tenure with the agency in February 2016. Pangburn has been on staff with the agency since 1998, serving the past seven years as director.
To apply for this position, those interested will need to create a user profile on the state of South Dakota’s Bureau of Human Resources website, http://bhr.sd.gov/workforus, and refer to Job ID number 5475. Applicants should also prepare a resume and cover letter to attach to the online application. All applications must be received through the state’s online system. Paper submissions will not be accepted.
