Discover the awesome wonders of wildlife and learn an ancient form of art! Families are invited to join the Wyoming State Museum in downtown Cheyenne for this month’s Family Day, to be held on April 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
During the program, participants will learn about Wyoming’s wildlife while exploring hides, skulls, tracks, and scat casts.
According to Nathan Doerr, Curator of Education for the Wyoming State Museum, “In addition to practicing their naturalist skills, visitors will explore Gyotaku, or the traditional method of Japanese fish printing.” As part of the program, participants will be able to create their own trout Gyotaku.
Visitors are invited to stop by anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to explore the Museum and participate in the Family Days program.
Family Days is a free program of the Wyoming State Museum that provides children and their families with fun and educational opportunities to explore Wyoming’s natural and cultural resources. The program is held the first Saturday of the month, September through May, at the Wyoming State Museum. Each month’s program has a different theme. For more information, contact Doerr at 777-7021.
The Wyoming Arts Council believes that experiencing the arts should be accessible for all, including people with mental and/or physical disabilities, older adults, military/veterans, people living in institutions and those who lack access to the arts due to geographic isolation, cultural difference and economic hardship.
