The Wyoming Arts Council now is accepting applications for the 2016 creative writing fellowships in poetry. Application deadline is midnight on Thursday, July 2. Applications accepted online via Submittable. Click on this direct link to go to the guidelines and application.
Three $3,000 fellowships are given annually to Wyoming literary artists. Submissions are accepted annually in one of three creative writing genres: poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. Winners also will receive a $500 travel stipend to read their work at the Casper College Literary Conference Sept. 25-26 in Casper. More information about the fellowships is available here.
Applicants must be Wyoming residents and at least 18 years old at the time of application. You must not be a full-time student pursuing high school, college, or university art-related degrees.
Fellowship judge this year is California poet Rebecca Foust. She was the 2014 Dartmouth Poet in Residence and has received fellowships from The Frost Place, the MacDowell Colony and the 2015 Sewanee Writer’s Conference. Her fifth book, Paradise Drive, won the 2015 Press 53 Award for Poetry, and new poems are in the Hudson Review, Massachusetts Review, Mid-American Review, Southern Indiana Review, and elsewhere.
