The exhibit “Unfiltered Curiosity,” featuring the works of artist Jeremy Jones, is on display in the Goodstein Art Gallery through Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015.
“My current body of work investigates the varied spaces of parenthood from the liminal and spiritual to the quirky, comical, and unconditional. As a new dad immersed in the trenches of helping to raise a toddler, the fleeting transformations of a child’s growth and development are both magical and bittersweet. I create sculptures that utilize ceramics and mixed media as a conduit to physically and mentally preserve those moments that you can’t get back,” Jones said of the work featured in the exhibit.
Jones earned two Associate of Fine Arts degrees from Casper College, one in commercial art and the other in fine art. From Casper College he went on to earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from the University of Wyoming and his Master of Fine Arts degree from Wichita State University. He is currently the sculpture and ceramics technician in the art department at Vanderbilt University and an adjunct instructor in ceramics at Tennessee State University.
“Unfiltered Curiosity” is free and open to the public. The Goodstein Art Gallery is located in the Goodstein Visual Arts Center on the Casper College campus and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
