The Wyoming Veterans Commission and our partner organizations are proud to announce the Wyoming Vietnam Era Veterans “Welcome Home” Reunion, to be held in Casper, June 4-7.
Veterans and their family members are invited to Casper to receive the “Welcome Home” they richly deserve. The reunion concept is for the veteran to travel to Casper and pay for their lodging.All meals, refreshments and souvenirs will be provided by those sponsoring the reunion. Scholarships to assist with travel and lodging may be available on a case by case basis.Joe Galloway, Vietnam War correspondent, will be the keynote speaker during the reunion. He is co-author, with Lt. Gen. (ret) Hal Moore, of the national bestseller “We Were Soldiers Once-And Young” which has been made into a critically acclaimed movie, “We Were Soldiers,” starring Mel Gibson. The book is presently in print in six different languages and more than 1.2 million copies have been sold.Veterans and family members can register online at wvvr.wyo.gov or by printing off the registration form on the website and mailing it. Also, veterans and family members can receive a reunion information packet via mail by calling the Wyoming Veterans Commission at 307-777-8152.Highlights of the reunion will include a “Welcome Home” ceremony, veterans luncheon, a separate luncheon for family members, benefits and services fair, icebreaker, potential screening of a feature film, parade, motorcycle rally, branch of service meetings, BBQ, memorial service and many other activities.Lodging information, detailed schedule and more information is available at wvvr.wyo.gov and the reunion’s Facebook site, at www.facebook.com/wvvreunionThe VA estimates Wyoming has more than 16,000 Vietnam veterans.
