Another lively WYO weekend

This weekend may be the height of the summer music season, although it’s hard to tell with the burgeoning list of fairs and festivals in Wyoming. But just to give you a taste of this weekend’s line-up:

Oyster Ridge Music Festival got its start in 1993 and will be held July 26-28 in in downtown Kemmerer in Historic Triangle Park. It bills itself as Wyoming’s largest free music festival. The event has been honored with a Governor’s Arts Award. Music by The White Buffalo, Robin Kossinger, Kort McCumber & The High Road, Holy Ghost Tent Revival and The Coffis Brothers. Also a band scramble and the Wyoming State Guitar Contests. FMI: http://www.oysterridgemusicfestival.com/

Toward the other end of the state – What Fest X is on tap for this weekend in Riverside in Carbon County. This festival got its start outside Cody and eventually made its way south to Riverside and the Bear Trap Café. The music is fee and so is the camping, although donations are accepted. Performances by Libby Creek Original, Jalan Crossland, The Barefoot Band and The Patti Fiasco. This event boasts some major sponsors this year including the very popular Mishawaka Amphitheatre (“The Mish”) in northern Colorado along the banks of the Poudre River. FMI: http://whatfest.com

Travel to Lander for the fifth annual Riverfest Art and Music in the Park in Lander City Park on Saturday, July 27. Music by WAC roster artists the Chanman Roots Band and The Bill Boycott Band. There will be a performance by the Jackson Hole Dancers Workshop Creative Arts Camp participants. Lots of art on display and for sale. Artists include Susan Grinels, Lennie Poitras, Bill Yankee, Zach Even, Sam and Jenny Dowd and a host of others. FMI: http://landerartcenter.com/riverfest2013

The WAC is proud to be a sponsor of all of these events. Thanks to the organizers for featuring our logo and credit line on their promo material and web sites.

And remember, if you have to attend that family reunion in Iowa this weekend, there are plenty of big music events throughout Wyoming in August. More about that next week….
